Doctor Neil Silke
Lead Engineer, DataCentreCFD Pty Ltd.
Neil gained his PhD in 2001 using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) to model Coanda Ejectors at Birmingham University in the UK. Since then, his career has seen him apply CFD modelling in a variety of fields including Building Services and Electronics. Data Centres offer a unique challenge to the industry in which rapidly changing IT equipment must be supported by a building with an expected life-span of 10 years or more.
Since 2004 Neil has worked primarily in a consultancy role using CFD to model Data Centres, whether it be in the design phase, or indeed in an existing Data Centre. Existing Data Centre work may be reactive including troubleshooting, or pro-active to test future IT installations.
